HOW TO ADD VALUES TO YOUR FAMILY MISSION STATEMENT

Today, we live in a complex world with filled with mixed messages.  How do you decide what’s right for your family?

Success depends on reaching a goal or goals. You cannot reach a goal if you don’t set one. The goals should be set and understood as a family so you can be successful together. A family mission statement is the reason a family exists. The first question is “why does this family exist.” A family provider is more than someone who brings home a check; he or she provides a vision for the family to ensures everyone stays on track.

Families are likely to be reactive if there are no clear goals set. That means the family will be shaped by situations or circumstances instead of being prepared to face them. The first step in this process can be done in several ways; one person could write one-word adjectives or verbs that line up with your vision of what you want your family to look like, act like and feel like. If you have children, they can also be involved in developing the mission statement.  A mission statement should include: core values, personal goals, and, strengths. I will show you a fun and effective way to do this in my next post. Stay tune for our next post on Friday July 21st  for the next steps. (“A practical and fun way to choose family values”)
